Popular Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s worsening economic situation, revealing that the recent surge in fuel prices has taken a toll on his mental well-being and daily life.

The actor made the remarks in a video shared on his Instagram page, where he opened up about the mounting challenges faced by many Nigerians amid rising living costs and persistent power supply issues. According to him, the sharp increase in petrol prices has significantly affected businesses, households and overall productivity.

Kunle noted that although he previously avoided engaging in political conversations, the current realities in the country have compelled him to speak out. He described remaining silent in the face of widespread hardship as “stupid,” stressing that public discourse is necessary to drive meaningful change.

Sharing his personal experience, the actor disclosed that he has been forced to rely heavily on a generator for electricity despite residing on Lagos Island, an area often regarded as having relatively stable infrastructure. He said the situation has resulted in increased expenses and emotional strain, adding that the ripple effects of the economic crisis are being felt across different sectors.

He also highlighted how the rising cost of fuel has affected creative professionals and entrepreneurs, many of whom now struggle to sustain operations due to escalating overhead costs. Kunle urged leaders to implement policies that would ease the burden on citizens and restore confidence in the nation’s economic direction.

The actor’s comments have since sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences and calling for urgent solutions to address inflation, energy challenges and the broader cost-of-living crisis.
