Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Shehu Sagagi, of his duties with immediate effect as part of a broader restructuring within the state executive council.

The decision was conveyed in an official statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, who explained that the move was aimed at strengthening the administration’s performance and improving service delivery across key economic sectors. According to the statement, the governor appreciated Sagagi’s contributions while in office but stressed the need for fresh strategies to drive investment and industrial growth in the state.

Sources within the government indicated that the shake-up forms part of ongoing efforts by the Yusuf administration to reposition critical ministries for optimal productivity. The restructuring, officials noted, is expected to enhance policy coordination, attract new investors and accelerate the implementation of economic development programmes.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that members of the cabinet remain focused on delivering tangible benefits to residents, particularly in areas such as job creation, business support and infrastructure expansion. He also urged political appointees to maintain high standards of accountability and dedication to public service.

Meanwhile, an acting commissioner is expected to be announced in the coming days to ensure continuity in the ministry’s operations while consultations continue on a substantive replacement.
