The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared its National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, following internal screening processes ahead of preparations for its 2027 national convention.

Party officials disclosed that the screening exercise forms part of efforts to ensure transparency, credibility and organisational discipline as the ruling party begins early planning for its next major convention and electoral activities.

According to sources within the APC, the leadership is focused on strengthening internal democracy, consolidating party structures and promoting unity among members nationwide. The clearance of key officials is seen as a step towards stabilising leadership and maintaining continuity in party administration.

Stakeholders also emphasised the importance of broad consultations and adherence to party guidelines in organising the convention, noting that inclusive participation would help build confidence among members and supporters.

Political analysts say the development reflects growing strategic positioning within the party as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The APC leadership reiterated its commitment to conducting a credible convention that aligns with democratic principles and enhances the party’s capacity to deliver on governance priorities.
