The Delta State Police Command has intensified enforcement against traffic violations across major towns and highways in the state, as part of efforts to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
Authorities disclosed that mobile courts have been deployed to handle cases involving offences such as failure to register vehicles, driving without valid licences and reckless driving. The initiative is aimed at promoting responsible road use and reducing accidents.
Police officials said the exercise also seeks to address rising concerns over traffic indiscipline, which they noted has contributed to congestion and increased risks for motorists and pedestrians.
The command urged drivers to adhere strictly to traffic laws and ensure that their vehicle documents are up to date, warning that defaulters would face immediate legal consequences.
Residents and road safety advocates have welcomed the move, expressing hope that consistent enforcement will foster safer driving habits and enhance order on the roads.
Security agencies reiterated their commitment to working with other relevant authorities to sustain the campaign and improve overall public safety in Delta State.
