2027: It’ll be difficult for opposition to defeat Tinubu in FCT — Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that ongoing infrastructure development across Abuja and its satellite towns will make it difficult for opposition parties to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the territory during the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the assertion while inspecting some road and urban renewal projects within the FCT, noting that the scale of development being undertaken by the current administration has significantly improved living conditions and public perception of governance in the area.
According to him, the construction of new roads, rehabilitation of existing infrastructure and expansion of public services in previously underserved communities are clear indicators of the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusive development.
The minister maintained that residents of the territory would likely consider the visible impact of such projects when making electoral decisions in the future. He emphasised that governance focused on delivering tangible results would strengthen political support for the administration.
Wike also expressed confidence that sustained infrastructural investments would enhance economic activities, reduce traffic congestion and promote better connectivity across the capital city.
Political analysts say his remarks highlight growing political positioning ahead of the next election cycle, with stakeholders increasingly linking development projects to electoral expectations.
