IPOB Orders Total Cancellation of Sit-at-Home in South East
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the permanent cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home order across the South East.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the group said the decision followed a direct instruction from its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB stated that the order takes immediate effect and applies to all states in the South East.
According to the group, the cancellation is aimed at restoring normal economic and social activities in the region, which have been disrupted by the sit-at-home directive over time. IPOB emphasised that no individual or group has the authority to enforce any sit-at-home order in its name going forward.
The organisation warned that anyone imposing restrictions, issuing threats, or engaging in violence under the guise of enforcing sit-at-home actions does so without IPOB’s approval and should be treated as a criminal.
IPOB urged residents, traders, transport operators, and business owners to resume their normal activities on Mondays without fear, assuring them that the group no longer supports any form of shutdown in the region.
The group also called on security agencies and the public to distinguish between IPOB’s official position and the actions of criminal elements allegedly exploiting the sit-at-home narrative to cause fear and instability
