A self-proclaimed preacher in Kenya, linked to a notorious starvation cult responsible for the deaths of more than 400 people, is set to face additional charges over the deaths of 52 more individuals discovered in another village, prosecutors announced on Monday.

According to Kenyan authorities, the new charges follow fresh investigations that uncovered more bodies believed to be connected to the cultโ€™s activities, expanding the scope of one of the countryโ€™s deadliest cult-related tragedies. The victims were reportedly followers who were instructed to starve themselves in order to โ€œmeet God.โ€

Prosecutors said the suspect will be arraigned in court on multiple counts, including murder and manslaughter, as the government intensifies efforts to secure justice for the victims and their families.

The case has shocked Kenya and drawn international attention, prompting renewed scrutiny of unregulated religious groups and calls for stronger oversight to prevent similar abuses in the future.

Security agencies continue to search affected areas and assist survivors, while forensic teams work to identify victims and determine the full extent of the deaths linked to the cult.
