Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has dismissed allegations linking him to terrorism financing, describing the claims as politically motivated persecution aimed at forcing him to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a media engagement on Thursday, the governor said he was being targeted because of his refusal to abandon his political principles and cross over to the APC, insisting that he would not be intimidated by pressure or blackmail.

“I am not a coward. I will not join the APC,” Mohammed declared, adding that attempts to malign his reputation were part of a broader strategy to silence opposition voices ahead of future political contests.

The governor alleged that federal agencies, particularly the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), were being weaponised against political opponents, stressing that the allegations against him had no factual or legal basis.

Mohammed maintained that his administration in Bauchi State has remained transparent and accountable, noting that no evidence has been presented to substantiate the claims made against him or members of his government.

He further accused powerful political interests of attempting to weaken opposition governors who refuse to align with the ruling party, warning that such actions pose a threat to Nigeria’s democracy and the rule of law.

The Bauchi governor reaffirmed his commitment to his party and to the people of the state, pledging to continue delivering governance without fear or favour despite mounting political pressure.

“I will remain focused on serving the people of Bauchi State. No amount of intimidation will make me compromise my values,” he said.
