The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has fired back at Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, dismissing allegations that he is behind attempts to destabilise Bauchi State.

Wike, in a sharp response on Thursday, urged the Bauchi governor to focus on addressing the challenges facing his state rather than dragging his name into political controversies. He described the claims as baseless and an attempt to shift blame for governance failures.

“Face your problems and leave me alone,” Wike said, stressing that he has no interest in interfering in Bauchi State’s affairs or undermining its government.

The FCT minister accused Bala Mohammed of playing politics with serious governance issues, noting that Nigerians expect leaders to deliver results rather than trade accusations. He added that persistent insecurity, economic hardship, and poor service delivery should be the priority of any responsible administration.

Bala Mohammed had earlier alleged that some political actors were working to destabilise Bauchi State ahead of future political contests, claims that Wike has now openly rejected.

The exchange has further deepened political tensions between the two senior politicians, drawing fresh attention to growing rifts within opposition ranks and the broader power struggle ahead of the 2027 elections.
