U.S. Airstrike: Where Is Our Commander-in-Chief? — Dele Momodu Asks
Media entrepreneur and Ovation magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, has raised concerns over what he described as the silence of Nigeria’s top leadership following reports of a United States–led airstrike targeting terrorist elements on Nigerian soil.
In a public commentary, Momodu questioned why Nigerians have not heard an official briefing or reassurance from the Commander-in-Chief amid growing reports of foreign military action within the country’s territory. He stressed that issues touching on national sovereignty, security cooperation, and civilian safety deserve clear communication from the highest level of government.
According to him, while collaboration with international partners in the fight against terrorism may be necessary, transparency remains crucial to maintaining public trust and accountability. He urged the federal government to clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported operation, including whether Nigeria authorized it and what safeguards were put in place.
Momodu’s remarks have since sparked debate online, with many Nigerians calling for an official statement to address the reports and calm public concerns.
