The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Kayode Opeifa, has issued a stern warning to top railway managers against any unauthorised sale, lease, or allocation of the corporation’s properties.
Dr. Opeifa gave the directive while addressing senior management staff, stressing that all NRC assets remain the property of the Federal Government and must be handled strictly in line with established rules and approvals.
He cautioned that any official found engaging in illegal transactions involving railway land, buildings, or other assets without due authorisation would face severe disciplinary action, including possible prosecution.
According to the NRC boss, the corporation is intensifying efforts to protect its properties nationwide as part of a broader reform agenda aimed at restoring transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency within the railway system.
Dr. Opeifa noted that unauthorised dealings not only undermine government reforms but also deprive the corporation of critical resources needed for infrastructure development and service improvement.
He reaffirmed management’s commitment to enforcing zero tolerance for corruption, adding that all existing property allocations would be reviewed to ensure full compliance with laid-down procedures.
The NRC Managing Director urged staff to uphold professionalism and integrity, warning that the era of impunity within the corporation was over.
