Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has strongly refuted claims that the stateโs health sector is moribund, describing the allegation as misleading and politically motivated.
Governor Adeleke was reacting to comments credited to Bola Oyebamiji, who had alleged that the health sector in Osun State had collapsed under the current administration. The governor said the claims were far from the reality on ground and ignored the substantial progress recorded in the sector since he assumed office.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Adeleke said his administration inherited a weakened health system but has since embarked on aggressive reforms to revive and reposition the sector for effective service delivery.
According to the governor, his government has invested heavily in the rehabilitation and upgrade of primary healthcare centres across the state, ensuring that previously abandoned facilities are now functional and accessible to residents, particularly in rural communities.
He added that several secondary health facilities have also been equipped with modern medical equipment, while ongoing renovations are aimed at improving service quality and patient safety.
Adeleke further disclosed that his administration has prioritised the welfare of health workers through prompt payment of salaries, recruitment of medical personnel, and training programmes designed to enhance capacity and professionalism within the sector.
โThe narrative that Osunโs health sector is moribund is false and unfair. We have taken deliberate steps to address years of neglect, and the results are visible across the state,โ the governor stated.
He urged critics to engage constructively and verify facts before making public statements, stressing that politicising the health sector does a disservice to the people of Osun State.
Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, noting that his administration will continue to invest in infrastructure, manpower, and policies that guarantee quality and affordable healthcare for all residents.
