Factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kabiru Turaki, says the party has yet to receive any formal resignation letter from Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, despite reports of his exit.
Turaki told journalists after a National Working Committee meeting in Abuja that Adeleke has the constitutional right to stay or leave the party but emphasised that due process requires a formal notification.
Adeleke announced his resignation from the PDP on Tuesday, citing unresolved internal crises as the reason for his departure. His decision came amid deepening divisions within the party’s Osun chapter.
Turaki, however, maintained that the governor’s exit remains unofficial until the party receives written communication. “As far as the PDP is concerned, there is no formal notice. The governor is free to take any decision, but it must follow the proper channel,” he said.
