Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has announced that his administration has earmarked over N800 million to empower non-indigenous communities in the state, including Ndi Igbo, Arewa, Yoruba, and residents from the Niger Delta.

He disclosed this on Saturday while addressing members of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Worldwide, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, during the Igbo Unity Day Celebration at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo.

Eno reaffirmed his commitment to inclusivity, assuring that all residents, regardless of ethnicity, feel valued and supported to contribute to the state’s growth. He praised the Igbos for their entrepreneurial spirit and noted that many have established successful businesses in Akwa Ibom.

“The Igbo people here are part of our social fabric; they have added value to our community through their remarkable spirit of industry and brotherhood,” he said.

The governor also commended the Igbo community leadership for promoting unity and peace, describing it as a hallmark of his administration. “With unity, a lot can be achieved for the overall good of the community,” he added.

Eno emphasized that Akwa Ibom is fast becoming a melting pot of cultures, attributing the harmony to the government’s focus on peace, security, and hospitality. He thanked Ohaneze Ndi Igbo for naming him their grand patron and for endorsing the 2027 re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and himself.

He pledged continued partnership with the Igbo community and other non-indigenous groups, provided they abide by the law and live peacefully.

Kayceey Chidiadi, President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, lauded Governor Eno for his visionary leadership, noting that his inclusive approach has fostered harmony and granted their members participation in government, a privilege not previously extended.
