Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said that the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ibadan will be remembered as the event that triggered the partyโ€™s long-awaited revival and strategic realignment.

Makinde made the statement on Saturday while addressing stakeholders and delegates ahead of the convention, stressing that the choice of Ibadan was deliberate and symbolic for a party seeking renewed national strength.

He noted that the PDP had gone through difficult internal moments in recent years but was now ready to rebuild, reconcile major factions and restore confidence among members across the country.

The governor stated that the Ibadan convention would serve as a platform for honest reflection, unity-building and recommitment to internal democracy, saying the PDP must present itself as a focused, disciplined and people-oriented alternative.

According to him, Nigerians are yearning for a credible political force capable of addressing economic hardship, insecurity and governance deficits, and the PDP must rise to meet those expectations.

Makinde assured that Oyo State had put all logistics in place to host a peaceful, well-organised and historic convention that would signal the partyโ€™s readiness for the 2027 general elections.
