Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for renewed global and national efforts to tackle the persistent shortage of teachers, describing it as a challenge that “must be confronted with urgency.”

In her message marking World Teachers’ Day 2025, themed “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage,” Tinubu paid tribute to teachers across Nigeria, praising their dedication to nation-building and youth development.

She described educators as “true heroes, shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations,” and emphasized the need for greater investment, empowerment, and motivation within the teaching profession.

Identifying herself as a lifelong teacher, the First Lady urged stakeholders to create policies that attract and retain more people in the profession, ensuring that education remains a strong pillar of national progress.
