N’Central APC Forum opposes state police, warns of minority oppression

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to reject proposals for the creation of state police in Nigeria.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, described state police as “evil,” warning that it could lead to abuse of power, suppression of minority groups, and silencing of opposition voices.
Zazzaga, who also served on the APC Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 elections, said the move would pose serious threats to democracy and unity.
The Forum’s position comes in response to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang’s renewed call for state police during a special court session to mark the start of the 2025/2026 legal year in Jos.
