The Federal Government has announced that it has secured ₦250 billion to fund the development of light rail systems in Kaduna and Kano States.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, disclosed this on Monday during a World Press Conference in Abuja.

Idris explained that the initiative is part of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to balanced and inclusive development across all regions of the country.

He said:

> “Contrary to perceptions in some quarters, this administration has shown uncommon commitment to equitable distribution of capital projects since assuming office. No zone is being left behind.”

According to him, the Federal Government has obtained ₦150 billion for the Kano light rail project and ₦100 billion for the Kaduna project.

The minister added that beyond major state projects, the government is also working to strengthen local government areas by fully implementing financial autonomy, describing LGAs as “catalysts for grassroots growth and development.”

Idris stressed that the Tinubu administration will continue to invest in subnational infrastructure as part of efforts to drive national progress and economic expansion.
