Fresh details have emerged regarding the abduction of Hon. Denty Laven Jacob, the lawmaker representing Pankshin South Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly.

Jacob was kidnapped on Monday night by unidentified gunmen at his residence in the Dong community, Jos North Local Government Area, an area increasingly notorious for criminal activities.

Although neither the Plateau State Government nor security agencies have issued an official statement, a family member who spoke to Daily Post on condition of anonymity confirmed that the incident occurred shortly after the lawmaker returned from an outing with friends.

“We strongly believe he was trailed. The moment the gateman opened the gate for him to drive in, the assailants emerged from their vehicle and whisked him away,” the relative said.

As of Tuesday morning, the abductors had not contacted the family or made any ransom demand. His current condition remains unknown.

The source also expressed worry over the rising insecurity in Dong, recalling that just last week, a well-known social media food vendor and her brother, a corps member, were kidnapped in the same community and released only after their family reportedly paid ransom.

“This is deeply troubling and adds to the growing wave of insecurity that has plagued Plateau State in recent months,” the family member lamented.
