Adeleke Unveils Vehicles, Solar Panels, Textbooks as Osun Schools Resume

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality education as public schools in the state prepare to resume for the new academic session on September 22, 2025.
At a ceremony in Osogbo, Adeleke — represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye — unveiled instructional materials and logistics support for schools. Items distributed through the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board include:
One Sienna vehicle, 6 mini buses, and 31 motorcycles for school monitoring
30 solar panel sets (300 watts each)
110 mathematics kits
100 interactive electronic boards
215,000 exercise books
125 computer systems
8,000 cartons of chalk
49,140 English textbooks
100,000 higher education notebooks
5,000 Jolly Phonics books
7,500 school diaries
Over 12,000 sets of classroom furniture
The governor highlighted that since 2022, his government had cleared outstanding UBEC counterpart funds (2019–2024), refurbished over 400 classrooms in 139 schools, and supplied more than 12,500 sets of furniture.
The 2024 UBEC/SUBEB Action Plan currently under implementation includes the construction of 333 classrooms, provision of boreholes, toilets, perimeter fencing, ICT facilities, and more logistics support for teachers and learners.
Osun SUBEB chairman, Ibukun Fadipe, stressed that the vehicles and motorcycles would be distributed across local government areas for effective school monitoring.
Beyond education, Adeleke’s administration has also supported pupils’ health. Earlier this year, the government funded medical procedures for pupils with serious eye defects through the Osun Health Insurance Agency.
