The Co-founder and Executive Director of Sysserve, Owoeye Johnson, has urged companies in Africa to adopt intelligent digital platforms to achieve sustainable facility management.

He made this call while presenting a paper at the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Global Africa Conference.

Owoeye explained that Sysserve’s facility management application has, over the past 13 years, supported organisations across industries in achieving their digital transformation goals. According to him, companies operate at different levels of digital maturity — ranging from non-existent systems to nascent, emerging, connected, and fully intelligent systems.

Citing the Digital Maturity Model by Deloitte and McKinsey, he said the framework enables organisations to measure their digital readiness and design a roadmap toward full maturity.

Owoeye noted that companies without centralised systems often rely on manual processes, leading to inefficiency. In some cases, facility officers still travel to head offices to obtain physical signatures for payments, work orders, or procurements, slowing decision-making and making it reactive rather than data-driven.
