No Security Votes in Osun Despite Opposition — Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, says his administration has resisted pressure to introduce the controversial “security votes” system, insisting that all security spending in the state is done through formal budgetary processes.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Friday in Osogbo, Adeleke stressed that Osun has no slush funds, noting that expenditures on security are strictly handled under public finance laws and regulations.
He explained that such spending covers operational support for security agencies, efforts to resolve communal crises, peace-building initiatives, and funding for the Amotekun Corps, all of which pass through statutory approval, including memo submissions and payment compliance.
“I am proud to declare that Osun State does not operate a slush fund under my watch. Our security needs are met through an approval process, and though I face resistance over this policy, I remain committed to it — even at great cost,” Adeleke said.
