Wike: No Government Can Solve All Problems, But We’re Making Progress

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has acknowledged that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot resolve every challenge facing the FCT, but assured that significant efforts are being made to improve the living conditions of residents.
Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja on Monday, Wike emphasized that it is unrealistic to expect any government, regardless of its tenure, to solve all societal issues.
“I will not stand here and claim that every problem has been solved. All problems cannot be solved — even if this government stays for 20 years. But the government is addressing key issues that directly impact the lives of our people,” he said.
Responding to questions regarding the selective commissioning of projects within the territory, the minister clarified that the government focuses on showcasing only major developments.
“We cannot commission every project. We highlight those that are capital-intensive and of significant impact — projects where billions of naira have been invested,” Wike explained.
“For smaller projects, must we really commission everything?”
Wike reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to developmental strides in the FCT, stressing that priority is given to initiatives that bring meaningful change to the populace, rather than just symbolic gestures.
