FG Denies Awarding New Contract for Baro Port Project

The Federal Government has refuted claims that Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, awarded a multibillion-naira contract for the Baro Inland Port.
In a statement on Sunday, Oyetola’s media adviser, Dr. Bolaji Akinola, clarified that no such contract was awarded under the current administration, calling the reports “false and misleading.” He noted that the Baro Port project was initiated under previous governments and officially commissioned in 2019 by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Akinola added that while the port remains important, the ministry is focused on reviewing existing infrastructure, not issuing new contracts.
