Former President Buhari Dies at Elite £3,500-a-Day London Clinic

The death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, has drawn global attention to The London Clinic, a top-tier private hospital in the United Kingdom, where he passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

Buhari, who had travelled to the UK in April for what was described as a routine medical check-up, was admitted to the exclusive facility located on Harley Street in London’s medical district. However, his condition reportedly worsened during his stay, leading to his eventual demise.

According to his nephew, Mamman Daura, the former president was in high spirits on Saturday, July 12, and had been looking forward to being discharged. Daura said he last saw Buhari around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. But by midday on Sunday, Buhari began experiencing breathing difficulties. Despite the doctors’ swift response, he died at approximately 4:30 p.m.

“He was optimistic about his recovery and was eagerly waiting to see his doctor on Sunday morning. Sadly, things took a bad turn by noon,” Daura told ThisDay.
