CBN Schedules Next Monetary Policy Committee Meeting

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that the 301st meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) will be held on Monday and Tuesday, July 21 and 22, 2025.
This was made known in a notice published on the apex bank’s official website over the weekend.
The MPC, which is the CBN’s highest policy-making body, will convene in Abuja to deliberate on key issues including the nation’s interest rate and inflation trends. The committee is expected to decide whether to maintain the current interest rate pause or tighten monetary policy further.
Nigeria’s inflation rate declined in May to 22.97 percent. At the last (300th) MPC meeting, chaired by CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso, the committee chose to keep the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) steady at 27.50 percent, despite the fall in inflation.
Meanwhile, some economists, including Dr. Muda Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), have advocated for a reduction in Nigeria’s interest rate to help stimulate economic growth.
