Tinubu demands fair climate, finance deal at BRICS Summit

At the 17th BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, President Bola Tinubu urged member nations to push for a fairer global system in climate action, finance, and healthcare, emphasizing the need for inclusive development and equity for emerging economies.
Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s efforts to:
Expand renewable energy
Tackle environmental degradation
Achieve universal health coverage
Promote nature-based solutions
Strengthen urban resilience
Align national policies with global sustainable development goals
According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu also called for a reevaluation of global governance structures, stressing the importance of ensuring that low-income and emerging economies, especially in Africa, are not left behind.
