FIFA Ranking: Nigeria suffer biggest drop, now 5th in Africa
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped eight places in the latest FIFA Men’s World Ranking for November, slipping from 36th to 44th position, the biggest drop among the ranked countries.
The rankings, released by FIFA on Thursday, also saw the Nigerian national team fall from 4th to 5th place in Africa.
This drop is likely tied to the Super Eagles’ disappointing performances in their final qualifying matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In November, Nigeria was held to a 1-1 draw by Benin Republic in Côte d’Ivoire and suffered a 1-2 defeat to Rwanda in Uyo.
Morocco retain top spot in Africa, followed by Senegal, Algeria, and Egypt in second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
In the global rankings, Argentina, maintained top spot, followed by France in second and Spain in third. England and Brazil occupy fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
The rankings reflect a busy international football calendar, including World Cup 2026 qualifiers, AFCON 2025 matches, and Nations League fixtures.
