Dangote Refinery, marketers to meet over new fuel price
Nigeria’s petroleum marketers have revealed that Dangote Refinery will be meeting with them on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Spokesperson of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Chinedu Ukadike disclosed this in an interview with Arise TV on Sunday.
According to him, the more actions were taken in terms of petrol distribution, the price of the product would drop for Nigerians.
“We hope to sit down with Dangote maybe Tuesday or Wednesday and if they give us a template or price, the more we take action in terms of distribution lines, the price will come down.
“We are not afraid of this competition, we have organized ourselves and are ready to compete because this is the survival of the fittest”, he said.
This comes as the Nigerian government last week confirmed that oil marketers can directly purchase petrol from Dangote Refinery.
The Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Naira-Crude Sale Implementation Committee, Wale Edun disclosed this in a statement last Friday.
Accordingly, the announcement means that Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is no longer the sole buyer of Dangote Petrol.
Recall that last Wednesday, NNPCL increased the petrol pump price in its retail outlets to N1,030 per liter in Abuja.
This comes after petrol price was increased to N879 per liter from N617 in September 2024.
