Youths Protest In Lagos Against SUV Allocation To Lawmakers
Some youths took to the streets of Ikeja, Lagos State on Monday to protest the allocation of Sports Utility Vehicles for lawmakers in the country.
The youths carried placards with various inscriptions like ‘Public funds not for luxury of a few’, ‘Stop NASS car purchase’, etc. An X user shared the video of the protest on Monday, with the caption, “We are live at Ikeja!
The leadership of the National Assembly had announced the decision to purchase imported SUVs for each lawmaker and bulletproof vehicles for the principal officers.

The move has generated heavy criticism, with some citizens lampooning the parliamentarians for being insensitive to the plight of Nigerians amid the high cost of living. Lawmakers in the Green Chamber have started taking delivery of their Sports Utility Vehicles.
Similarly, legislators in the Red Chamber will receive the first batch of the SUVs this week.
