Labour Party Gov candidate in Kano decamp to APC, meets Tinubu
Presidential candidate of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed the Kano gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Bashir Ishaq into the ruling party.
Tinubu, according to a tweet by Dada Olusegun, a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), met Ishaq in Abuja.
Those present at the meeting included Tinubu’s running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, LP Deputy Governorship Candidate, Peter Obi’s Kano State Campaign Coordinator.
A source familiar with the matter explained Ishaq defected to the APC due to “exclusion of major northern stakeholders in the decision-making process of the party’s campaign”.
The source added another reason for the defection was the “lack of clear direction on the interest of northern Nigeria”.
