Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has celebrated three years in office with a rundown of his administrationโs achievements, including the construction of new roads, renovation of hospitals, and the establishment of farm settlements aimed at boosting food production and job creation across the state.
Speaking at an anniversary event in Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji said his governmentโs focus on infrastructure, agriculture, and healthcare had transformed rural communities and strengthened the local economy. He added that several township roads had been completed, while others were ongoing, alongside efforts to improve water supply and education facilities.
The governor also pointed to investments in the stateโs agricultural sector, noting that the new farm settlements would create opportunities for young farmers and reduce reliance on imported food. โOur goal is to make Ekiti a productive state, not a consuming one,โ he said.
However, opposition parties have downplayed the administrationโs performance, arguing that the state still grapples with unemployment, poor power supply, and unpaid arrears. The Peopleโs Democratic Party (PDP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) described the celebration as โself-praise,โ insisting that most of the projects were either inherited or incomplete.
Despite the criticism, Oyebanji reaffirmed his commitment to finishing ongoing projects and ensuring transparency in governance. He urged residents to remain patient and continue supporting his administrationโs development drive.
