A socio-cultural group has commended the installation of Seyi Tinubu as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, describing the honour as a recognition of youth leadership, philanthropy and service to the Yoruba people.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the group said the conferment of the traditional title reflects Tinubu’s growing influence among young people and his consistent involvement in humanitarian and community-driven initiatives across the South-West and beyond.
According to the group, the title of Okanlomo, which symbolises strength, courage and responsibility within Yoruba tradition, is well suited to Tinubu’s personality and public engagements, particularly his efforts in youth empowerment, social advocacy and grassroots development.
The group noted that the installation ceremony, which drew traditional rulers, community leaders and dignitaries, underscored the enduring relevance of Yoruba cultural institutions in recognising modern leadership anchored on service and unity.
It added that Tinubu’s approach to leadership has continued to inspire young Nigerians to embrace cultural values while actively contributing to national development.
The group urged him to uphold the values and responsibilities attached to the title, stressing that his new role comes with expectations of continued commitment to peace, cultural preservation and inclusive progress within Yorubaland.
Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has in recent years been visible in several social intervention programmes, particularly those focused on youth welfare, education and community support.
The group concluded by expressing confidence that the Okanlomo of Yorubaland would use the platform to further strengthen bonds among Yoruba youths and promote positive engagement across the region.
