TINUBU LAUDS TEAM NIGERIA’S 24-MEDAL FEAT, PLEDGES MORE INVESTMENT IN SPORTS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Team Nigeria on its impressive performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, where the country won a total of 24 medals.
The President praised the athletes for their dedication, resilience, and patriotism, describing their achievements as a source of pride and inspiration for Nigerians both at home and abroad.
Tinubu said the outstanding performance reflects the immense talent and determination of Nigerian athletes, who continue to excel despite numerous challenges.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to increasing investment in sports development, promising improved funding, modern training facilities, and better welfare packages for athletes and coaches.
According to the President, sports remain a powerful tool for promoting national unity, youth empowerment, and economic growth, adding that the government will continue to support programmes that nurture young talents across the country.
Tinubu also commended the coaches, officials, and support staff whose contributions played a vital role in Team Nigeria’s success at the Games.
The President assured Nigerians that the Federal Government would continue implementing policies aimed at strengthening the nation’s sporting institutions and creating an enabling environment for athletes to compete successfully on the global stage.
