China calls US blockade of Iran ports ‘dangerous and irresponsible’
China has criticised the United States over its planned blockade of Iranian ports, describing the move as “dangerous and irresponsible.”
The reaction came after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to target ships entering or leaving Iranian ports following the collapse of peace talks between Washington and Tehran.
In response, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Beijing would play a “constructive role” in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, signalling concern over escalating tensions in the region.
China warned that such military actions could further destabilise global security and disrupt international trade, particularly given the strategic importance of Gulf shipping routes.
The development marks a growing divide among global powers over how to handle the Iran crisis, with fears of a broader geopolitical confrontation.
Observers say the situation could have far-reaching implications for global energy markets, diplomacy and international security if tensions continue to escalate.
