The Sokoto State Government has stepped up efforts to improve access to quality healthcare through the construction, renovation and upgrading of health facilities across the state.

The initiative includes the transformation of selected rural health centres into higher-level medical facilities to bring more advanced healthcare services closer to residents, particularly those in underserved communities.

The government said the programme is aimed at strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure, improving access to essential medical services and reducing the burden on major hospitals.

The upgrade of rural facilities is also expected to improve the availability of medical personnel, equipment and essential services, including maternal and child healthcare.

For many residents in remote communities, accessing adequate medical attention often involves travelling long distances to urban centres. Strengthening local health facilities could help reduce delays in treatment and improve health outcomes.

The development forms part of broader efforts by the state government to expand healthcare coverage and improve the standard of medical services available to residents.

The government is expected to continue investing in healthcare infrastructure as it works towards making essential medical services more accessible across Sokoto State.
