DON’T SCRAP NYSC OVER INSECURITY, OGUN LAWYER TELLS FG
An Ogun State-based lawyer has urged the Federal Government not to scrap the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in response to security challenges affecting corps members in parts of the country.
The lawyer argued that insecurity should be addressed through improved security measures rather than ending the scheme.
He said the NYSC remains an important national programme that promotes interaction among young Nigerians from different parts of the country.
The lawyer called on the government to strengthen security arrangements for corps members, particularly in areas considered vulnerable to attacks.
He also urged authorities to review postings where necessary and ensure that corps members are not deployed to locations where their safety cannot be adequately guaranteed.
The call follows renewed concerns over the safety of corps members amid reports of attacks and abductions in some parts of the country.
