NIGERIA, GAMBIA AGREE TO REVIVE JOINT COMMISSION, DEEPEN TIES

Nigeria and The Gambia have agreed to revive their Joint Commission as part of renewed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest.
The agreement was reached during high-level diplomatic engagements between officials of both countries, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to closer collaboration in trade, investment, education, agriculture, security, healthcare, and regional integration.
The two nations said reactivating the Joint Commission would provide a structured platform for regular dialogue, policy coordination, and the implementation of agreements designed to advance shared development goals.
Officials also pledged to enhance economic cooperation by promoting trade, encouraging private sector investment, and creating new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
Nigeria and The Gambia further reaffirmed their commitment to working together within ECOWAS and other regional bodies to promote peace, democracy, and sustainable development across West Africa.
The meeting also highlighted the longstanding historical and diplomatic ties between the two countries, with both governments expressing optimism that renewed cooperation would deliver tangible benefits for their citizens.
The revival of the Joint Commission is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and open new avenues for collaboration in areas critical to economic growth and regional stability.
