MAKINDE REVEALS MAJOR HURDLE: TOUGH FOREST TERRAIN DELAYING RESCUE OF ABDUCTED OYO PUPILS, TEACHERS
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has explained why some abducted pupils and teachers are still being held by kidnappers, pointing to the difficult terrain within the Old Oyo National Park where the victims are believed to be located.
The governor said security agencies have made significant progress in rescue operations but are being challenged by the vast forest landscape, which provides cover for the kidnappers and complicates tactical movements.
According to Makinde, the safety of the victims remains the government’s top priority, stressing that security operatives are carefully coordinating efforts to secure their release without endangering lives.
He assured residents that security agencies have not relented in their operations and are continuing to intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering, and search efforts in the affected area.
The governor also urged the public to remain calm and avoid politicising the incident, emphasizing that all available resources are being deployed to bring the victims home safely.
The abduction has sparked widespread concern across Oyo State and beyond, with growing calls for stronger measures to protect schools and communities from criminal attacks.
