Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has dismissed reports suggesting that governors in the South-East are divided, insisting that differences in policy priorities among states should not be interpreted as disunity.
The governor made the clarification while addressing political stakeholders, noting that each state government faces unique developmental challenges that may influence its policy direction. He stressed that such variations are natural in a federal system and do not undermine the collective interests of the region.
Otti emphasised the importance of sustained cooperation among South-East leaders, particularly in areas such as infrastructure development, economic integration and security coordination. According to him, regional collaboration remains essential for attracting investment and improving the overall well-being of residents.
He also called on political actors and opinion leaders to avoid narratives capable of creating unnecessary tension, urging them instead to focus on constructive engagement that promotes unity and progress.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with neighbouring states and federal authorities to address shared concerns and drive inclusive development initiatives.
Observers say the remarks come amid ongoing discussions about regional cooperation and political alignment ahead of future electoral cycles.
