Eid-el-Fitr: Abbas greets Muslims, credits national unity to prayers

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has extended warm Eid-el-Fitr greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria, commending their prayers and spiritual devotion which he said have contributed to sustaining national unity amid prevailing challenges.

In a goodwill message marking the end of the Ramadan fast, Abbas urged Nigerians to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice, tolerance and compassion associated with the holy month. He noted that the collective prayers offered by citizens for peace and progress remain vital to strengthening the country’s social harmony.

The Speaker emphasised the need for continued commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among people of different faiths and ethnic backgrounds. According to him, unity and cooperation are essential for addressing socio-economic difficulties and building a more stable and prosperous nation.

Abbas also called on leaders at all levels to prioritise policies that promote inclusiveness, justice and development, stressing that the welfare of citizens should remain at the centre of governance.

He further encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to extend kindness to the less privileged and support initiatives that foster community development and national integration.

The Speaker wished Muslims a joyful celebration and expressed optimism that renewed dedication to shared values would help move the country towards greater progress and stability.
