Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended mothers for their invaluable contributions to family stability and community development, describing them as the backbone of society.
The governor gave the commendation in a message marking Mothering Sunday, where he acknowledged the sacrifices, love and resilience demonstrated by women in nurturing children and promoting harmony within homes and neighbourhoods.
Fubara noted that mothers play a crucial role in shaping the moral values and character of future generations, adding that their efforts often go unrecognised despite the profound impact they have on social cohesion and national development.
He urged families and communities to celebrate and support mothers, stressing the importance of creating enabling environments that empower women to thrive in both domestic and professional spheres.
The governor also highlighted the need for policies and programmes that promote maternal health, education and economic opportunities for women, stating that investing in mothers ultimately translates into stronger families and more prosperous communities.
He further called on residents to reflect on the significance of compassion, unity and shared responsibility in building a peaceful society, reiterating his administration’s commitment to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women and children across Rivers State.
Fubara concluded by wishing mothers a joyful celebration and encouraging them to continue their role as pillars of strength and agents of positive change.
