The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Olohundare Jimoh, has directed officials involved in the screening of police constable applicants to ensure transparency, fairness, and integrity throughout the exercise.
Jimoh gave the directive during a meeting with officers responsible for the credentials and physical screening of applicants from Lagos State who were shortlisted for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the commissioner emphasised the need for strict adherence to the established guidelines guiding the recruitment process.
According to him, the screening exercise is part of the ongoing nationwide recruitment of 50,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
Earlier, the screening team โ made up of police officers and personnel from the Police Service Commission โ paid a courtesy visit to the commissioner at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja.
Jimoh urged the officials to conduct the exercise professionally and transparently in order to maintain the credibility of the recruitment process.
He stressed that ensuring fairness and transparency would help protect the integrity of both the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission, while also strengthening public trust in the recruitment system.
The commissioner further warned that any act capable of compromising the integrity of the screening process would not be tolerated.
The ongoing screening exercise is part of the federal governmentโs efforts to strengthen the manpower of the Nigeria Police Force and improve security operations across the country.
