Former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared that he remains firm in his political convictions, insisting that he will not compromise his principles for personal or political gain.

Kwankwaso made the declaration amid growing political tension in Kano State following the reported exit of the state governor from the NNPP, a development that has sparked widespread speculation about possible realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking through close associates and party loyalists, the former Kano State governor dismissed claims that he could be influenced by political pressure or inducements, stressing that his political journey has always been guided by ideology, integrity and service to the people.

“I am not for sale. My politics is about the people, not personal benefits,” Kwankwaso was quoted as saying.

He noted that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains strong and focused, adding that recent developments would not derail its vision of promoting good governance, social justice and grassroots empowerment across the country.

Kwankwaso further assured his supporters that the movement would continue to play a significant role in Nigeria’s political landscape, regardless of defections or shifting alliances, urging them to remain calm, united and committed to the core values of the movement.

The former minister also emphasised that political loyalty should be rooted in ideology and performance rather than opportunism, warning against politics driven solely by personal ambition.

The development comes as political activities intensify nationwide, with key actors positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
