Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday joined other top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the inaugural meeting of the party’s Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation.
The high-level meeting was convened to address internal disputes and emerging threats within the ruling party, as well as to strengthen unity ahead of future political engagements.
The committee is chaired by Mai Mala Buni, and includes governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Hope Uzodimma, Hyacinth Alia, Uba Sani, Umar Namadi, Bassey Otu, Abiodun Oyebanji and Sheriff Oborevwori.
Other members of the committee are Adamu Aliero; the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Masari. Muiz Banire (SAN) serves as Secretary of the committee.
At the committee’s inauguration last December, Governor Buni said the body would adopt strategic engagements and wide consultations to deliver inclusive and lasting solutions, giving both old and new members — especially aggrieved ones — a renewed sense of belonging within the party.
He also stressed the need for members to take proactive steps to address potential threats to party unity, urging them not to allow personal interests or sentiments to override the collective good of the APC.
