Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has disclosed that he met over โ‚ฆ600 billion in the stateโ€™s coffers after the declaration of emergency rule, assuring residents that the funds are being managed prudently despite mounting political tensions.

Governor Fubara made the disclosure while responding to criticisms from some lawmakers and political actors over the management of the stateโ€™s finances following the emergency measures imposed on the state.

He stated that claims suggesting financial recklessness or diversion of public funds were false, insisting that the stateโ€™s resources remain intact and are being deployed strictly for governance and the welfare of Rivers people.

According to the governor, the funds he inherited were carefully accounted for and have continued to be managed transparently, with priority given to salaries, pensions, infrastructure, healthcare and security across the state.

Fubara noted that the ongoing political disagreements in the state should not be allowed to overshadow governance, stressing that his administration remains focused on service delivery and fiscal responsibility.

He further assured civil servants, contractors and residents that there is no cause for alarm, adding that Rivers State remains financially stable and capable of meeting its obligations.

The governor urged political actors to place the interest of the state above personal or partisan considerations, warning that misinformation could undermine public confidence and investor trust.
