Lawal inaugurates PDP subcommittees ahead of national convention
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has inaugurated the Accreditation and Special Duties subcommittees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the party’s 2025 Elective National Convention.
The convention is scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the inauguration of the accreditation subcommittee took place on Friday at the Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.
Governor Lawal described the committee as “the most vital component of the national convention,” noting that its role is central to ensuring a transparent and credible process.
He said,
“To the men and women selected to serve on this subcommittee, I extend a special welcome. You have been chosen not for a routine task, but for one of the most critical assignments in our democratic process. The work you are about to undertake is the very foundation upon which a credible, transparent, and successful convention will be built.”
Lawal explained that the subcommittee would handle the production of delegates’ lists, booklets, and tags for participants and observers, as well as manage accreditation and welfare arrangements for delegates and dignitaries.
“This is not merely an administrative task. It is a sacred trust. You are the gatekeepers of our convention’s integrity,” he added.
The governor also inaugurated the Special Duties Subcommittee at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, charging its members with overseeing key operational and financial aspects of the convention.
He said,
“You were chosen for your fiscal prudence, integrity, and dedication. While other committees carry out specific tasks, your role is to empower them all. You are the convention’s central nervous system, ensuring every organ functions with the needed resources.”
Lawal noted that the Special Duties Committee would coordinate financial activities, budget approval, fundraising, transparent disbursements, and other responsibilities assigned by the National Convention Organising Committee Chairman.
