Renowned Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has responded to growing allegations over an incident that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) begins an official investigation.

In a statement released on Wednesday, FAAN confirmed that it is investigating a possible violation of airport security regulations involving the veteran musician. The incident reportedly took place on Monday, August 5, during the boarding process for ValueJet Airlines Flight VK 201 bound for Lagos.

According to Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, preliminary findings indicate that the passenger in question (KWAM 1) attempted to board the aircraft carrying a flask containing an unidentified liquid substance, despite several warnings from aviation security officials.

FAAN noted that this act contravenes international aviation safety standards, including Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Annex 17, which prohibit liquids exceeding 100ml in hand luggage unless they are medically required and properly declared.
