The issue of power rotation in Nigeria’s presidency took center stage again on Tuesday as northern political leaders, traditional rulers, technocrats, and civil society groups gathered in Kaduna to review President Bola Tinubu’s two-year scorecard.

The event, organized by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, was held at Arewa House and featured prominent voices from across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Titled “Assessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-Citizen Engagement for National Unity,” the two-day forum highlighted concerns over the current administration’s performance and the broader future of the country’s leadership structure.

High-profile northern appointees in Tinubu’s government—including SGF George Akume, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa—were present, reinforcing the region’s stake in the current government.

Speaking on behalf of President Tinubu, Akume defended the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” claiming it is already producing tangible results.
