No Politician Can Inherit Buhari’s 12 Million Vote Bank – Osita Okechukwu

A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu, has asserted that none of the current political figures attempting to inherit the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s massive 12 million vote bank are truly qualified to do so.
Speaking to journalists during an interdenominational church service held in Abuja in honour of Buhari, Okechukwu, who once served as the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), praised the former president’s unique appeal, especially among Northern voters, attributing it to his honesty and integrity.
“With all due respect to those positioning themselves as Buhari’s political heirs, I must say that his shoes are far too large for them to fill,” he said. “Buhari’s unmatched sense of humanity, integrity, transparency, and moral direction make any attempt to replicate his appeal an uphill task.”
He criticized these politicians for lacking the moral authority and public service record that defined Buhari’s career, noting that many of them never championed anti-corruption efforts nor campaigned without the stain of vote-buying.
“Buhari earned the masses’ trust as Mai Gaskiya (The Honest One) because of his consistent record of truthfulness and transparency over five decades in public service,” Okechukwu explained.
He further accused some of the aspirants of being complicit in the controversial privatization of key state-owned enterprises like NEPA, Ajaokuta Steel, and the Aluminum Smelter Company—moves he claims brought no tangible benefits to the nation.
